I have been having elbow pain when lifting for 3 weeks. Dropping the weight is the only thing that seems to help. Wrapping helps a little. I'm not going to drop the weight down BUT I'm focusing much much more on technique and I think it improving....

TIM: INNER ELBOW IS "GOLFERS ELBOW"; OUTER ELBOW IS "TENNIS ELBOW". BOTH CAN COME FROM LIFTING AND TOO MUCH COMPUTER GEEKIN' TRY THE ELBOW BRACE SOLD AT D.I.C.K.S YOU WILL PUT IT ON YOUR FOREARM ABOUT 1 - 2" BELOW THE ELBOW. IT HELPS. RACHO

Oooo, I'm going through the same thing. Mine tennis elbow has been hanging around or weeks. I'm afraid I'm going to have to go to the doctors. I have one of those braces. Guess I should try wearing it more. Thanks for the tip.

Rach...Tim wanted me to post this
Depending on the movement the pain can come from the inner or outer but almost all bench work is inner elbow pain. I wore a elbow compression sleeve last night and it helped alot. I did play golf 36 holes this past Sunday and it hurt horrible during the golf. I am hoping that just lifting isn't going to progress the pain. Went thru this once before a year ago and went away after about 8 to 10 weeks.

YES, IT WILL GO AWAY AND THEN RE-APPEAR. I USED THE BRACE I DESCRIBED AND ALSO THE "COOL 'N FIT" SPRAY BEFORE ANY ACTIVITY. IT WAS A SLOW HEALING AREA. IT COMES BACK SOMETIMES BUT I KNOW HOW TO TAKE CARE OF IT. ACTUALLY, I HAD A PRESCRIPTION SAMPLE GIVEN TO ME BY MY DOC CALLED MOBIC - WHICH HELPED AND EVEN HELPED ANOTHER OLD INJURY IN MY RIGHT FOOT. SINCE HE'S IN THE MEDICAL FIELD, MAYBE HE CAN GET SOME SAMPLES. RACHO

My elbow gets worse at night!! I wake up sometimes and can't do a thing!! GRRRR...
I read that it's also good to do stretching and resistance in the area where it's sore to help stretch and heal.
Any thoughts?

Well, I'm certainly not an expert on this issue, but here is what I would try. Warm the area with a heating pad then ice it for 20 minutes before you go to bed. This has helped me with many minor injuries over the past couple of years. I would take a couple of Ibuprofen and then go to bed and see if that doesn't help. Make sure you take them with a big glass of water....they can be hard on the kidneys.
This is actually what my PT used to have me do if I had an injury and it would help.
You're working with Mr. Oddo right now, right? He may have some suggestions too.

Those are the stupid things that take a while to go away. Hopefully soon. Glad it's getting better though.

Thanks Val.
I've discovered that my positioning at the computer is irritating my elbow. When I'm doing my online courses, for example, I walk away with moderate to severe pain shooting from mid-forearm up through the elbow. If I take time away from my desk, it tends to get better.
When my remodel gets done, perhaps I can get a new desk focusing on ergonomics when I set up my new office. I think that will be a big help to my elbow problems.
Thanks again...

I have mixed heavy lifting with high rep/ low weight and it is giving the elbow the rest it needed. I have been dealing with this for almost 4 months now. But I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
