Class D (Over 5-4 up to and including 5-5 ½) produced eventual overall winner - Amy Lee Martin. A beautifully balanced competitor at 5- 5 ½, 130 pounds, Martin is the 2008 NPC Indiana Figure champion with extensive background in gymnastics, track & field, and cross country running. In the event's largest class (34 contestants) she ran her way to a nearly unanimous victory, winning by a comfortable 17 points.

Isabelle
Another Indiana Champion turned pro
Her friends and fans call her ‘Belle'. And at this year's NPC USA Isabelle Turell rang up a solid victory that those same friends and fans had been waiting for since she first caused a serious buzz in 2003.
After a convincing overall victory at the 2003 NPC Excalibur five years ago, Turell became something of a phantom competitor who left everyone wondering what her next move would be. Three years later the Floridian re-surfaced at the 2006 IFBB North American Championships winning the light-heavyweight class. And once again the fans of women's bodybuilding were buzzing in anticipation of her progression to a victory that would lead to the pro level. The 2007 season came and went - no Isabelle Turell. But the coming of the 2008 competitive season ended the speculation as the phantom once again surfaced. Newly moved to Indiana from her former Florida home and prepping quietly without the glare of Florida sun and prying eyes, Turell stepped on the scale at a well-prepared 152 pounds - a weight that suited her 5-5 frame to a tee.
In what turned out to be the contest's biggest field - 15 contestants - Turell used her sound structure and some eye-popping bodyparts (which included a tiny waistline and a double-wide lat spread) to win the judges favor. The decision was unanimous, and she carried that head of steam to a decisive victory in the posedown to win the overall crown and the opportunity to apply for pro status. Turell's successes here make her the first competitor from Indiana to win the heavyweight and overall NPC USA crowns, and in every sense of the term she was the ‘Belle of the Ball' at the 2008 NPC USA.
